The FDA's own scientists said no to all seven

BPC-157, 8 to 6 with one abstention. KPV, the same. TB-500, the same. MOTS-c, 7 to 5 with two abstentions. Semax, 8 to 5. Epitalon, 7 to 4. Emideltide, the compound most people know as DSIP, failed 6 to 7.

Four of the six cleared by two votes. DSIP lost by one.

Now add the part that makes those margins matter. Before anyone sat down, the FDA's own scientific reviewers had worked through all seven and recommended against every single one. Thin human safety data. Ingredient characterization problems. The staff position was no, across the board.

The panel overruled them. Six times.

Advisory committees do not usually do that. And when they do, the vote count stops being trivia and becomes the story, because a recommendation is only as heavy as the consensus behind it.

Consider what the FDA is actually holding right now. Not a mandate. A stack of two-vote and three-vote splits, produced by a panel that went against its own agency's reviewers, on compounds those reviewers said lacked the human data to justify the move. The committee advises. It does not decide. The agency weighs the recommendation against its own review and then chooses whether to open the rulemaking that would change anything. A unanimous panel makes that choice hard to duck. A panel split down the middle makes it easy to sit on.

That is the weakest kind of win.

You can see exactly how thin the coalition was in the one vote that failed. DSIP came up on day two. A panelist who had voted with the majority on the earlier compounds moved to the other side. That single shift is the entire difference between recommended and rejected.

Same room. Same standards. Same week. One person changed their mind and the outcome inverted.

So the honest read on last week is not that six peptides are on their way. It's that six peptides got a fragile signal from a divided panel, and the agency is under no obligation to act on any of it.

Nothing about your access changed on Friday. Not the legal status, not the sourcing landscape, not the timeline.

There is exactly one event worth watching from here: whether the FDA opens formal rulemaking. That is the only step that moves the law. It has not happened. Until it does, every other development is noise.

Expect that noise to get loud. A wave of marketing is already forming around the phrase "the FDA panel approved it," and that claim is wrong in a specific, checkable way. An advisory recommendation is not placement on the 503A Bulks List. Only placement makes compounding lawful, and placement requires rulemaking that has not started.

If a vendor or a clinic tells you otherwise this month, you now have the vote counts to check them with.

Nothing that happened last week changes what matters at the bench. The standard for sourcing research-grade peptide material is what it was before the meeting: a certificate of analysis tied to the specific batch you are buying rather than one representative document, HPLC and mass spectrometry data legible enough that you can check identity and purity yourself, and a vendor willing to publish both without being asked for them.
